    How to succeed at Network Marketing

     

    1. Learn how to lead

     

    So, you’ve joined the company and are being told to recruit and sell, recruit and sell, recruit and sell, and there is a real urgency to get you to recruit and sell, and do you know why? Because 97% of all Network Marketers fail and their company wants to get as much out of them as they can while they are still excited about the prospect of making a small fortune.

     

    But do you know the real reason why so many fail? It’s because they aren’t being trained properly, and that’s because their upline has only just joined the company and doesn’t know what they’re doing either (recruit and sell, right?). Only a handful of network marketers are recruited by experienced people (because there aren’t many experienced people in the business… 97% fail, remember), but even then, the experienced people often don’t know how to train their recruits and they still get a high dropout rate. They know how to motivate their recruits, which is great, but motivation without skill teaching is useless and you end up with fired up people trying to get sales or recruits using ham-fisted techniques and giving the company, and Network Marketing, a bad name in the process. Plus, a lot of the experienced guys are using old-fashioned techniques.

     

    Traditional techniques are OK, but they are time-consuming and have the real chance of alienating friends and family and will only get you so far. Once you’ve exhausted your acquaintance list what are you going to do? Go to the shopping centre and pounce on people? Stop people in the supermarket? Hand out business cards to everyone that comes within three feet of you (the three-foot rule)? None of these are particularly appealing!

     

    It really doesn’t matter how brilliant the company’s products are or how amazing the compensation plan is. If you haven’t got the skills necessary for finding recruits or getting sales you’re dead in the water. Sure, you might get a few sales from family and friends and one or two of them might even sign up with you but where are your next leads coming from once you’ve exhausted your warm market?

     

    You need to be looking at how to use social media to your best advantage, how to prospect online – getting leads, nurturing leads, closing the deal. How to grow your following whilst staying compliant with whatever social media platform you are using and so on. There are millions of people out there using social media and all of them are, potentially, a customer or a recruit. But, most of all, you need to be learning how to lead and train your recruits correctly.

     

    You now have four options:

     

    1) Drop out - this is the choice of most marketers, but you don’t want to drop out. You’ve already invested time and money and have a dream that you want to see realised, but you’ve become frustrated because you’re not moving forward and don’t know what else to do.

    2) Sign up for free webinars (and there are plenty of those around). But this is time-consuming, and you only get part of the story with each webinar leaving you to piece everything together like a jigsaw puzzle, but you may not have all the pieces.

    3) Pay for training – this a good option but can end up being extremely expensive, and you may not be able to afford this when you are starting out.

    4) Get an upline who knows what they’re talking about and will train you for free. After all, your success will be their success so it’s in their interests to spend time teaching you everything they know.

     

    And, once you know what you are doing, it is possible to become a great success and earn a lot of money with Network Marketing.

     

    If you have got an upline who will motivate you and teach you the skills you need to know, you will sell, and you will recruit, and you will be a success. If your current upline doesn’t know how to do this then sign up with one who does (most, if not all, successful Network Marketers have more than one income stream anyway, that’s why they’re called entrepreneurs!). With an upline who knows what to teach and how to teach it you will save thousands in training fees and you will make money.

     

    Find an upline that knows what they are doing. Learn from your upline. Model their techniques. And you will be successful!
